what to do when a house-girlfriend is no longer job-less

So i received some amazing news yesterday!

i got a job at a local factory making brake parts, and i also got a seasonal position at Bath and Body Works in our mall :) so as of next monday i will no longer be a house girlfriend.

who will clean the house? cook dinner? scrub the toilet? all of these are valid concerns of someone who has been taking care of a house and dinner and grocery shopping and everything in between since i moved here with boyfriend in july. we could very well use this money, but the fact that i will be working two jobs, i will be making the most money out of the two of us. i am hoping that means i get more say so in what we buy and how we budget our money.  our monthly combined income with me now working will be doubled (well a little bit more than doubled) of what we made with just boyfriends income.

im really happy i can help provide because boyfriend gets really really stressed because of money…i usually dont.

while i have this job i plan on saving up and buying things that we will need in the future….i.e. baby things, wedding things, toilet paper..ya know basics :) the reason im wanting to prepare for a baby is just because you never really know. we might get married in a year and have a baby right away for all i know. i would rather be prepared than not.

any other girlfriend’s decide to get a job to help out recently?

Why you should not grocery shop without a list!

Here is the scene : me taking a lovely peaches and cream bubble bath, its late…10pm…on a thursday night. boyfriend randomly busts through the door and says “whenever your done, we are going grocery shopping!” oh dear baby jesus!!! what am i going to do?

i quickly get out of the tub and start trying to prepare a list…i keep asking boyfriend what our budget is and what he was special and such…….

he is too busy online to respond. T____T

we went to wal-mart and boyfriend was throwing things in left and right! we ended up with 4 boxes of fruit and grain bars???? 4 BOXES!!!! WTH?

we did buy two big bags of grapes  some romane hearts and other veggies

so it wasnt a total fail….but we went about 50 bucks over our budget….so…all in all….BRING A DETAILED LIST!!!!!!

making you partner eat healthy

so…i’ve been trying to eat healthier and workout lately. i measured out some pasta for us to eat tonight and boyfriend was looking at it for a good minute then questionably says “um…..where is the rest of the pasta?” i told him we only get 2/3 cup each…he didnt seem pleased. but i think that by the time dinner come he will be okay with it.

im trying to recreate a dish i usually get at applebees called three cheese chicken penne

now i must say im not really a big fan of applebees but boyfriend like it pretty well and we always get the 2 for 20 deal where you can get an appitizer and two entree’s for 20 dollars. i always get chicken penne with chicken on the side (i dont eat it so i give it to boyfriend) because i asked them once if it would be a cheaper price if i didnt get the chicken and she told me it would cost the same…so why not just get it on the side and bring it home! :D

anyways it is a penne pasta with three different cheese and a homemade cheese sauce with tomatoes and basil with (or without) grilled seasoned chicken. ive been craving that lately but instead of going out and spending money we should spend i figured i would try and whip it up with whatever we have here

Kelsey’s chicken cheese pasta

serves two people

1 1/3 cups of any pasta (we had elbow so thats what i am using)

1/2 cup of cheese sauce (make your own or use a jar brand, i am using three cheese alfredo)

1/2 cup of grated romano cheese (optional)

1 medium tomato diced

2 chicken breasts (seasoned with olive oil and gralic)

its really simple and super tasty!!!!  its pretty healthy and even my boyfriend will eat it and not realize its healthy. i just used 1 small chicken breast per person but i will only be using one since i dont eat meat. i couldnt find the “chicken” in the morningstar brand his weekend so ill just have it alone. Im also making a side salad and possibly some garlic bread. its actually a good amount of food and boyfriend should get full!

ENJOY!~

HAPPY TUESDAY!

grocery haul #1

i finally did a grocery haul …we actually got more stuff than this but we had a big bbq over the weekend sooooo….yeah! and i forgot to mention i got french bread!!! muh fav!!!

real post is soon to come!~ enjoy!

extreme couponing with a dash of lifestyle eating

So yesterday i was clipping coupons for nearly 2 hours! i clipped them then sorted them into different catagories for shopping on friday!

do any of you coupon? it is really a pain but in the long run you can save so much money! i usually save around $40-$70 each time i coupon!!!

this week im planning out this shopping trip so i dont miss a good deal, because we dont have any bills to pay these next two weeks and boyfriend gets a fairly large paycheck! so i plan on stocking up on essientals like shampoo and cleaners and things we can freeze. (they are having a special on one of my favorite vegetarian products:MORNING STAR FARMS!!!!)

Oh i forgot to tell you guys! i am pescetarian(for info clicky clicky here —http://pescetarianlife.com/ ) so hence why i am very excited about them having my meat replacements on sale 3 for $11!!! sounds pricey still but these things run from $4-$7 each! yikes! no bueno amigo!

i love eating guilt-free, i dont feel bad about what i eat…with my exception of fish…which is something i usually eat if im sick for extra protien and if we go eat and i cant find anything on the menu. ideally i would love the be full vegetarian then maybe cut out milk and eggs, if i can do that i might try to go vegan! i tried to for one week…i made it 18 hours i think…i woke up in the middle of the night and had some chocolate and ruined my week of vegan eating…its so hard!

any of you guys veg*n?  if so i would lvoe to hear how you transitioned!  as im still transitioning myself!~ (also if you need any info on this type of lifestyle the internet has many good soucres, peta included, although i dont agree with the extreme value peta has i think at some point it started out good, either way they have good info at peta2.com)

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!!! <3

spoil yourself every once in a while

So boyfriend went and got me these amazing donuts from C&K donuts right down the street from our house. Even though we are on a pretty tight budget i think it is important to spoil yourself every once in a while.

Ive been wanting to go out for breakfast or something recently and even though we basically had $10 left until thursday we have full tanks of gas and lots of food and bills paid…so boyfriend figured it would be ok to get a treat. and remember when i said shaved ice was the best thing EVER! ….well…this is THE BEST THING EVER: BREAKFAST EDITION!!!!

so yummy!~

so today is a cleaning day for us! and we are fueled by fresh donuts! wish me luck! because i hate cleaning!  bleh! sorry for the short post just thought i would blog about my donuts and make you want them lol

HAPPY SUNDAY!

living with a man…sometimes good….sometimes not.

Above is one of my fav. pictures of boyfriend and then one of me and the boyfriend. he asked me to move in with him about 2 months ago. Of course as anyone would be i was very happy that he wanted to ME of all people to be his personal sandwich maker! LOL ok to be fair he really does ask me to make him a sandwich but he only ever wants meat and cheese on it so…its really easy :)

BUT for all of you have not lived with a significant other i think you might benifit from this post! Here are some things you will like about living with you man and some you will not.

You will not like that you will be cleaning the toliet very very very often, because aparently men have a thing where they can create pee art all ove the bathroom id they wanted too. boyfriend is actually not so bad but my OCD comes out and i clean the toliet a lot more than if it was just me using it.

You will probably love that you are no longer excepted to lift heavy things or open up jars ever again!

You might not be happy about when your man randomly wants to paint the entire inside of the house blue. believe it or not men do want to decorate they just dont always know how. boyfriend ususally has great ideas about this stuff…but according to him our entire inside of the house will be blue and tan….no way

You will probably love that they think about stuff like saving engery and electricity, because i mean come on! saving money just means we get to buy more clothes and shoes!

You will probably hate that they think about saving energy and electricity, because when your sitting in a dark room on you laptop screen really bight…you get a headache…and it make your eyesight worse…so basically they want you to just go blind! then they wont even have to use the light ever!!!!!! gah! men are rude.

You will love that 90% of the time they will let you grocery shop on your own. boyfriend likes to go with me sometimes but he usually freaks out mid-shopping saying we spent too much money (but he always forgets i have tons of coupons and im buying stuff on sale!) so lately ive been going alone which is blissfull

You will hate that they are always saying how you cant spend any money…i mean how am i supposed to LIVE without that hello kitty toaster, microwave and mini fridge!…yes i know we have the boring old REGULAR and PLAIN version of those things…but babe!!! helllooooo kitttyyy!!!!!!…..thats usually how it goes…completely unfair!

You will love that you will always have a cuddly buddy! :) which is basically the best invention ever!

well all you lovelies i think its time for me to go finish City of Bones….amazing book if you havent read it! GO! READ IT NOW!

shaved ice adventures

So…shaved ice is pretty much the best invention in the world. whoever made this amazing delicious cold yummy treat deserves a nobel peace prize, because  if everyone had one of these i honestly believe there would be no wars. how can you even be mad at anyone with something this amazing in your possession? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

The reason i say this is because boyfriend proved this to me yesterday. Yesterday we had to drive about an hour and a half to take his sister to the seizure doctor. which isnt a problem especially since she gave us gas money.   But we got lost! i ened up calling to office because boyfriend is allergic to talking to people if it involves asking directions, and what kind of girlfriend would i be if i said “no you do it! i dont care about your allergy to asking for directions!!”  WHAT IF HE DIED???

anyways i called and asked. we finally get there about 15 minutes late for her appt. and guess what? seriously guess you guys?….ok you give up? THEY NO LONGER TAKE HER INSURANCE!!!!!!!! are you freaking serious? my “sister-in-law to be” is way to quiet and nice to yell at the evil office lady. but i however am not!

ok, truth is, i didnt yell but i did make it very clear that this is stupid because they took it last month. either way she could not go. i am now in a bad mood because we came all the way down there and she couldnt go, and now we have to jsut go straight home. no awesome shopping, no cool places to eat….because “we have a budget babe, im sorry” my inner 3 year old comes out and i pout. then we stop at my favorite shaved ice stand (it is one that just sits in a parking lot throughout the summer but omg it is amazing!!) and you know what he did to diffuse my horrible mood? HE BOUGHT ME MY FAVORITE BAHAMA MAMA SHAVED ICE!!! the nerve of some people right?  im having a perfectly awesome pouting session and he ruins it by buying me the most amazing substance know to man!
either way…the pouting went away and this is amazing. and at 2.00 a cup not really too pricey either. cheaper that starbucks! because nothing at starbucks is only 2.00, but they ARE  the coffee gods…so i guess its ok to charge 5.00 a cup.

anyways, summer is almost over which means no more shaved ice…so im planning on hitting up walmart soon when the snow cone makes go on sale mwahahahaha! i totally outsmarted them!  here is the syrups you need to make a Bahama mama snow cone if your super lucky and already have a snow cone maker !

BAHAMA MAMA SHAVED ICE/SNOW CONE

1/4 cup of coconut syrup (or if you want to go more natual coconut milk)

1/4 cup cherry syrup (DON NOT  use black cherry or white cherry)

3 oz. orange juice (or a splash of orange syrup)

1/4 cup pineapple juice (you can use the syrup version for snow cones but this tastes better)

about 2 cups of ice!

My very first Farmers Market

Hello all! I am sure you are wondering to yourself ..”why the heck would i read this blog…there is nothing here…no  hot guys, not gossip..not even a recipe yet!” well yes dear reader you would be absolutely correct! but all is soon to come! …no promises of hot guys or gossip though…but if it comes down to it i will happily post random pictures of  Robert Sheehan or Iwan Rheon and gossip of their hotness and how insane it is that Robert is leaving the show!! D: (misfits fans anyone? …anyone??)

I do however, have some good news about my farmers market/wal-mart trip today! ive been working on eating locally and saving money grocery shopping…this does both!

I woke up at 6:30am with boyfriend (who knew they even had one of those in the morning too?) i kissed him off to work and then got ready, with pink polka dot bag in tow, ready for some shopping! of the food variety, which is my favorite kind. there is just something about going into a store and seeing all the fruits and veggies lined up all cute and pretty. and i especially love it when they put stuff in those clear plastic containers…what can i say? im a sucker for those fancy “oh this must be good..it was locally packaged!!!” type things….i usually talk myself out of it and buy the stuff on sale or off brand.

anyways after i regained myself from the evil spell the nice packaging put on me i was actually able to find some awesome deals!

* 2/5.oo pre-cooked grill steak and chicken (perfect for pasta or salads!)

*1.50 almond milk ( i have never had it, its almost breeze brand, i had a in store coupon)

*1.00 for 3 medium tomatoes (turns out i was not very good at looking them over because one was a little rotten on one spot)

* .98 hass avocado (i made some awesome guacamole today :D )

*2.00 1/2 gallon of 2% milk (for the boyfriend…who told me later today he like soy milk…who knew? i should have just gotten that!)

*2/.79 each large Gatorade bottles (would have stocked up but we are a little short this week)

*2.99 big bag of breaded chicken patties (good for fried chicken salad and sammies)

*1.00 medium bag or iceberg salad mix (i am aware iceberg isnt really good or bad for you but the baby spinach and romaine were 3 bucks! so..i shall stick with my cheap but still good salads)

*4/1.25 low fat yogurt

Now, i had never been to a farmers market until today and honestly i wish i had waited until sat. to go with my step-mom or someone because there is just something about being the only person under 40 there…either way i got some great deals! read on readers read on!!!!

*3/1.oo sweet corn

*.40 lemon ( i used this for my guacamole but omg it smelled so good i almost wanted to just eat it right there)

*.90 giant onion (when i say giant…i mean…like bigger than both palms of my hands side by side… O__0 )

*.90 garlic ( for the guacamole)

* 1.00/lb. broccoli (i do like my trees…with ranch! hahaha)

i think thats all i got, i spent about 30 dollars in all…but i also go a little bit of gas and a two liter that i didnt list. but over all i think i did fairly well….if i had gone to walmart to get all of that it would have easily been 45-65 dollars. i just cut my bill in half! and to celebrate im going to share my guacamole recipe that i used today!

-one hass avocado; cut in half, remove pit then use knife to make a “grid” in the avocado then use spoon to remove every. last. savory. bit. in a seal-able container.

-diced onions…i just put a handful in you can put in as many as you like (tip:if you use onions to cook go ahead and pre chop and ziplock bag some for later!~)

-half a tomato; diced

-half of a lemons juice;remove seeds first

now just use the spoon and stir it together smushing large avocado pieces, good on chicken and burgers, sammies, or with chips, or veggies! heck, it smells so good i almost wanted to eat it in spoonfuls

enjoy my first posting and this amazing recipe
